Blind Reading: The original OCAD Student Union Call for Submissions

(Received on October 1, 2012 by email)

//The Student Union is seeking submissions for any installation-based projects that are ideally site-specific to areas of the campus. The unifying theme of these projects is space—a sense of space, an exploration of space, the limitations of bordering space, positive and negative space. Submissions will be accepted from all years and all disciplines.

//Material costs of chosen projects will be fully funded by the SU, and all work will be photographed/documented as an added bonus. We will also help you with the temporary installation permit process if you have not undertaken it before. At the end of the length of the installation period, the work will be claimed and removed by the artist. Proposals should include drawings, process work, a detailed description of proposed work, information/photo/diagram of proposed installation site, and a short artist statement. Proposals will be selected by a committee of students, faculty, and curators, according to quality, strength of concept, and proposed interaction with environment. Submit to 51 McCaul St in the Student Union office, or email digital packages to academic@ocadsu.org.

//Submissions open today (Sept 26) and close November 1st, so that the chosen proposals will have November to obtain their temporary installation permits. Work will be installed during the 1st week of second semester. Join in on a dialogue about space and spaces at OCADU by submitting and experiencing dynamic works of art!
